TELOS: 10 MW Superconducting Generator for Electric Aviation

The TELOS project develops a 10 MW generator using 2nd generation superconducting materials, targeting power densities greater than 20 kW/kg for future electric aircraft.

TELOS is an ambitious project to develop a 10 MW generator using DC coils made of 2nd generation superconducting materials, providing a new technology for motors and generators with high power densities.

Technical Targets

  • Power output: 10 MW
  • Power density: greater than 20 kW/kg
  • Total weight: less than 500 kg
  • Uses 2G HTS (second generation high-temperature superconductor) materials

Consortium

The project is a collaboration between Airbus, Rolls-Royce (Siemens eAircraft), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Technical University of Munich, and Neue Materialien Bayreuth.
